Warren, PA — As light snow is expected to reach the area by Monday, November 10th, the City of Warren Department of Public Works says it’s fully prepared for winter operations, even as the state budget remains unresolved in Harrisburg.
The city of Warren Department of Public Works Superintendent, Joe Reinke said the city’s salt supply and winter maintenance plans are not being affected by the ongoing state budget delay.
“The state budget isn’t going to affect our salt supply or salt budget at all this winter,” Reinke said. “Talking to our salt supplier, it’s business as usual. We shouldn’t have any problems this winter. Last year there were the same concerns, involving the rough winter that we had. A lot of people found that there were no bags of salt for their own homes, but as far as road salt from our supplier goes, we never had any issues and we don’t expect any issues this year.”
Reinke said the city was proactive with its winter budget planning and does not anticipate any financial issues related to salt purchases or equipment maintenance.
He added that while most DPW crews are still focused on leaf cleanup, at least one vehicle is already on standby and fully prepared to respond if early snow arrives.
