READING, Pa.- A stabbing that happened on Sept. 8, 2022, in Reading’s City Park remains unsolved as authorities say they need the public to come forward.
“That visual of when I [saw] the ambulance just takes my son and his blood just going down Washington Street,” says Jose Rosa Ramos’ mom. “Till this day, that still stays in my head,” she added.
It was four years ago on Sept. 8th that Jose Rosa Ramos was stabbed in City Park in Reading after a fight broke out. He wasn’t involved, but he died from his injuries.
Four years and still no clues, and no arrests.
“I really don’t know how I do it every morning,” his mother tells 69 News.
“Some people don’t understand the pain of having to walk by my son’s ashes and be like someday you’ll get justice,” she said.
The stabbing happened in the afternoon in broad daylight with lots of witnesses.
His mother says Ramos was a determined, empathetic, and funny young man with big dreams and goals; now justice seems just out of reach.
“Everyone that was there was not scared enough to see what happened, but hopefully somebody is fearless enough to come forward,” Ramos’ mother says.
His mother, heartbroken, is managing to get by with a close-knit support system but says she wants her son’s killer to face the consequences for taking a life that was lost too soon, as it seemed so promising.
“Almost four years in and nothing yet,” says his mother.
“So yeah, we need Reading to step it up; we need the community to step it up. If there’s so much crime, there’s got to be some good in between that,” she said.
The Berks County District Attorney says he’s certain someone out there knows something, and he’s asking anyone with information about the stabbing to come forward.
