Albany Center for Independent Living forced to close after the town of Bethlehem found structural issues and mold infestation.
DELMAR, N.Y. (WNYT) — The town of Bethlehem has ordered the Albany Center for Independent Living to close.
Bethlehem Town Supervisor says the owners allowed the facility to become unsafe for occupation. The town’s building division found structural issues, electrical issues and mold infestation among other violations.
The Department of Health is managing the relocation of 45 residents into new housing. Multiple agencies are helping, including the Delmar Progress Club, which donated suitcases for every resident.
The emergency order is forcing the Albany Center for Independent Living to close. The town said residents must leave the facility as agencies continue the relocation effort.
