BERKS COUNTY, Pa. – While swimming may not be an option at Blue Marsh, there’s still plenty to do in Berks County over the long holiday weekend.
Everything from food festivals to cars and concerts are planned in the county.
Bear Creek Mountain Resort is celebrating the unofficial end of summer tonight with its End of Summer Concert featuring The Weekenders on the mountain.
“You can’t beat this. Look at the beautiful mountain, look at the backdrop,” said Kristy Hill, events manager at Bear Creek.
Plus, they’ll be having a season pass giveaway, and the first fifty cars will get free Reading Fightin’ Phils tickets.
“It’s gonna be a perfect night, and it’s a great way to kick off your holiday weekends,” Hill said.
On Saturday, if cars are more your thing, you can visit the 60th Annual Duryea Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Boyertown Community Park.
“There’s hot rod classes, there are classic car classes, there’s antique cars,” said Bob Dare, Historic Vehicles Museum President.
Lastly, for some great food, you can head over to Hamburg’s 23rd annual Taste of Hamburg-er festival this Saturday.
“The most popular is a bacon cheeseburger on a glazed donut. There are so many different types of burgers,” said Lynn Weller, executive director of the Our Town Foundation.
Eight blocks of downtown Hamburg will be filled with more than 200 vendors, and plenty of live entertainment this Saturday. Plus, you can vote for your favorite burger combo in the popular patty pick this year.
“The whole town pretty much shuts down, and the streets are filled, and everyone’s having a good time,” said Weller.
