ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Different neighborhoods. Different paths. But one shared hometown.
Saturday night, people in Allentown came together to celebrate the memories that keep bringing them back.
The message that brought them together: “We are one.”
People as far away as Georgia made their way to the Mountainview Youth Center on South Fifth Street to reunite with friends they haven’t seen in years.
“I love the people of Allentown. I grew up here,” said Ed Harris, a found of the reunion. “I live in Georgia, but Allentown is still in my heart.”
He said “love” is why people keep coming back.
Janice Primer, who has lived in Allentown for 50 years, says the people are what kept her home.
She says events like the reunion bring her back to her childhood.
“There have been quite a few that I haven’t seen in years, and a lot of them you remember them by face but not the name,” Primer said. “And when you see that person, and you realize who they are, all these memories from your childhood just all rush back.”
Longtime community members say they look forward to reuniting with more people next year.
