Edward G. Pry
OBITUARY
Edward G. Pry, of Taylor, passed away Thursday at Allied Skilled Nursing Center, leaving behind a lifetime of love, devotion, and quiet strength. On June 6, Ed and his wife, Dolores (Glinko), celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary—a beautiful milestone that spoke to the deep bond they shared throughout their lives.
Born in Scranton, Ed was the son of Harold E. and Elizabeth (Zwick) Pry. He graduated from Scranton Technical High School in 1950 and soon after answered the call to serve his country. Ed proudly wore the uniform of the United States Navy, beginning in the reserves before being called to active duty.
Ed built a long and respected career, first with Modern Shop and later with H. N. Gardner Co., where he worked as a foreman for thirty years. Even after retiring, Ed continued to stay active, spending twenty-two years working at Glen Maura National Golf, where he formed friendships and enjoyed the camaraderie of the course.
A man of deep faith, Ed was a devoted Catholic and a parishioner of Divine Mercy Parish. He was also a proud member of the United Association of Journeymen & Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitters Industry, Local 524. Ed loved his community, and one of his greatest joys was cheering on the Riverside Vikings.
Those who loved Ed will remember his steady presence, his loyalty, and the way he took pride in the accomplishments of his family.
Left to cherish his memory, in addition to his beloved wife, Dolores, are his three sons:
Edward S.; CAPT David A., SC, USN (Ret.) and wife Dee; and Jeffrey and wife Nancy.
He was blessed with four grandchildren, Rachael Pry and spouse Anthony; LCDR David
P. Pry, USN; Jeffrey Pry and wife Kathleen; and LCDR Jennifer E. Pry, USN and husband LT Brandon Foor, USN. and his four great-grandchildren: Ellie Jae, Sophie, Celia, and Oliver.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Harold and Alvin (and wife Peg), and his sister Betty Gardner (and husband Ken).
The Pry family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of the second floor at Allied Skilled Nursing, whose care and kindness meant so much during Ed’s final days.
Family and friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 AM in Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis St., Scranton, by the Rev. Paul McDonnell, O.S.J. Interment with military honors will follow in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Taylor.
