Lionel R. Hudzinski

OBITUARY

Our beloved brother, mother’s “precious parcel”, Lionel Roy Hudzinski, 67, of Allentown, was called home by the Lord in St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown on July 14 after living at Phoebe Allentown Health Care Center – his time on Earth being done.

Born in Allentown and a proud, life-long resident, he was a son of the late John F. and Vera L. (Cartwright) Hudzinski. A 1976 graduate of William Allen High School with a law enforcement education from LCCC, he was a trained printer, maintenance mechanic and security guard who served in various capacities at, among others, Darius Keller Excavating, Hoben Graphics, Drucker Printing, National Advertising Manufacturing Co., and, finally, Techni-Plex until injured. He was an unusually well-educated, gifted, kind and caring man – a qualified farrier, an expert marksman, an experienced hiker, a passionate Pittsburgh Steeler fan who deserved to be shot for that, and an avid reader who could hold his own in any conversation. Lionel was always accompanied by a rescued dog as a lifetime companion – such was his heart. He loved Waldheim Park as a retreat from the cares of the world, served on its board at one time, and practically knew everyone there. His tall and sturdy presence has been missed. Indeed, he was a precious parcel.

Lionel will be well remembered by his brothers, Richard J. Hudzinski of Allentown and Dr. Martin Hudzinski and his wife Mary of Waynesboro, PA. He is also survived by ten nephews and nieces who affectionately called him “Uncle Big L”. They are Lydia Peckman and husband Tony, Lisa Cuomo and husband Dan, Kristina Gatchell and husband Justin, Andrew Hudzinski, Karen Beach and husband Daniel, Isaac Hudzinski and wife Angela, Ariana Loftin and husband Adam, Mary A Hudzinski. Jennifer Hudzinski, and Caleb J Hudzinski.

Services: Friday, September 18, at Christ E.C. Church, 2135 Tilghman St., Allentown. Calling starts at 10 a.m. The memorial service will commence 11 a.m., followed by a luncheon reception.
