Reading will light up City Hall for two special occasions, celebrating local pride and honoring those who have served our nation, the city announced Friday.
On Saturday, City Hall will glow purple in support of the Reading Royals’ home opener. Officials said the display is a show of community spirit as Reading’s professional hockey team kicks off a new season.
On Tuesday, City Hall will be illuminated in green in recognition of Veterans Day, honoring the men and women who served in the United States armed forces.
“These illuminations are a way for our community to come together and show what we value,” Mayor Eddie Moran said. “Purple for the Royals celebrates the pride and energy our local team brings to Reading. Green on Veterans Day honors the bravery and sacrifice of all those who have served our country. It’s a small gesture, but one that carries a lot of meaning for our residents and our community.”
City Hall will be closed and street sweeping suspended for Veterans Day.
Trash and recycling schedules will not be affected.
Officials said residents are encouraged to visit City Hall on both evenings to view the lights and join in celebrating these important occasions.
