The American Heart Association has announced that the Erie Heart Walk has been postponed as the community continues to recover from recent storm damage.
Originally scheduled for Sept. 10, the event will now take place on Oct. 14 at a new location that will be announced at a later date.
In a statement, organizers said the decision was made in consultation with volunteer leadership, citing ongoing recovery efforts throughout the region.
“During this challenging time, our thoughts are with everyone impacted,” the organization said. “We are keeping our community close to our hearts and remain deeply inspired by the strength, compassion and resilience that define Erie.”
Despite the change in date and venue, organizers emphasized that their mission remains unchanged.
“While the date and location have changed, our commitment to improving health and saving lives remains as strong as ever,” the statement said. “Together, we will continue to support one another, prioritize the safety and well-being of our neighbors, and come together in October to celebrate the power of community.”
The American Heart Association also thanked volunteers, sponsors, walk teams, heart heroes, survivors and supporters for their understanding and continued dedication.
Additional details about the new event location are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. Organizers say they look forward to gathering with participants on Oct. 14 for the rescheduled walk.
