WEST READING, Pa. – Monday was the last day of the pool season for the West Reading Pool, but it was the first and only day for dogs to take a dip.
“The dogs love it. It’s a great way to end the summer,” said Marlelle Fromuth, from West Reading.
Every year, for just $10, owners can jump in the water with their four-legged friends.
Half of the proceeds benefit the local efforts of Humane Pennsylvania.
“It’s a lot of fun. And raising the money for a local shelter is always great,” said Kim Lennox, from West Reading.
It’s Jennifer Stoltzfoos’ second year bringing her dog Mabel.
She says Mabel loves getting the chance to run around off leash.
“There aren’t a lot of places, so we’re really lucky that West Reading has pool time for the pups,” said Stoltzfoos.
Fromuth’s dog Ava is turning 14 years old.
“And she’s been enjoying it. Oh, I think probably close to 14 years,” Fromuth said.
Fromuth says for Ava, it’s never gotten old. Even after all these years, it’s still her favorite way to end summer.
“Just anytime you’re able to be outside and enjoying yourself, dogs are great. They make you happy,” Fromuth said.
Letting them run around and get wet is a great way to make your dog happy, too.
“It’s good for their mental well-being, their health, and also it’s just good to see other doggos and hopefully make some friends in the process,” Stoltzfoos said.
