EXETER TWP., Pa. – An unusual competition in Exeter Township raised quite a bit of money for mental healthcare in Berks County.
Bertie’s Inn says its “belt sander” races raised more than $35,000 earlier this summer. Participants sit on blocks of wood on belt sanders and race to the finish line.
For 36 years, the bar has held the races and fun events to support local charities.
This year, that money is going to the Greater Reading Mental Health Alliance. That’s a nonprofit that promotes mental health recovery and wellness.
