Two new items are joining the Girl Scout cookie lineup for 2027, and neither is aimed solely at the humans doing the buying.
As USA TODAY reported Monday, Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania will begin selling Patch Pals, a soft-baked dog treat, and Sparkables, an allergy-friendly cookie, when the season opens Jan. 12, 2027.
Both products are available online only, for direct shipping.
Girl Scouts said in a release that the additions were inspired by members across the country who pushed for a lineup that better serves their communities.
Eastern Pennsylvania troops will formally kick off sales Jan. 21, according to PhillyVoice.
A First-Ever Treat for Dogs
Patch Pals marks the first time Girl Scouts has sold a product designed for pets. The treats are blueberry muffin-flavored and soft-baked.
Each one features one of four designs drawn from the Girl Scout patch tradition, representing different scouting experiences.
The product was developed in partnership with BARK, the dog subscription box company.
Allergy-Friendly Sparkables
Sparkables are the organization’s first cookie built for people with food allergies.
They are crunchy oatmeal rounds with chocolate chips and colorful sprinkles, made in a facility designed to keep out all nine major allergens recognized by federal guidelines: peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, wheat, milk, soy, sesame, fish, and shellfish.
Girl Scouts developed Sparkables with Partake, a brand that specializes in allergy-friendly baked goods.
Online Only, Shipped Directly
Neither product will be available at the cookie booths or door-to-door sales that Northeast Philadelphia residents are used to seeing each winter.
Both Patch Pals and Sparkables ship exclusively through the Girl Scouts’ online ordering platform.
The national cookie season runs January through April each year, though local councils set their own specific windows.
Buyers can enter their ZIP code on the Girl Scouts website to find dates for their council.
The cookie program is designed to help members build entrepreneurial skills, from sales planning to money management, as the organization notes on its website.
