A Scranton man and woman face felony trespass charges after Dickson City police found them asleep in a home were they didn’t live, according to a criminal complaint.
At about 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, police found Murat Patirdi, 41, of 822 Cedar Ave., and Katy Baldwin, 38, of 509 Meade St., on a makeshift bed on the floor of a residence at 1048 Rear Carmalt St., Dickson City
Patirdi originally told officers his first name was Taylor, but that name didn’t match a photo from a police database.
Officers determined Taylor Patirdi was Murat Patirdi’s son.
Murat Patirdi then admitted he had provided inaccurate identification, and provided his correct information.
According to the criminal complaint:
Property owner Yitzchok Jung told police neighbors contacted him several times reporting people had arrived in a white Volkswagen and stayed overnight at the property. But when he arrived at the house it was clean and seem undisturbed.
But on Thursday morning, when he arrived at the residence, he spotted the Volkswagen outside the residence and called police.
He told officers no one had permission to be in the house for any reason.
Jung gave officers the code for the front door of the residence and they entered. They found Patirdi and Baldwin asleep in the unit’s only bedroom.
Officers noted the two were slow to wake up, but eventually did and spoke with police.
Patirdi is also charged with providing false identification to law enforcement officers. He remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Police noted that both Patirdi and Baldwin had active warrants from other jurisdictions. Both have preliminary hearings scheduled for 9:45 a.m. on Nov. 17 before District Judge Kipp Adcock.
