A Lancaster County woman was killed when the vehicle in which she was a passenger crashed into a utility pole while speeding last week on a local road, police said.

A 17-year-old boy from Gap was driving a Chevrolet Cruze with Dorothy Stolzfus, 21, in the passenger seat when the crash happened around 7:30 p.m. Oct. 8 on Mine Road, near Buck Hill Road in Sadsbury Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said the Cruze was going at a “high rate of speed” when it passed another vehicle while going east on Mine Road. The car then crashed into a utility pole while trying to navigate a slight bend in the road.
