Officials have identified the 37-year-old man who was fatally shot by state police last week in Monroe County.
Sean Thornton, of Middle Smithfield Township, was pronounced dead about 7:45 p.m. Friday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, after an incident at a home in the 600 block of Marshalls Creek Road in the township, Monroe County Coroner Thomas A. Yanac said in a news release.
His cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds, with the manner homicide.
State police were called to the home just before 6 p.m. for a report of a disturbance there. They fired their weapons, hitting him, according to a state police news release.
The troopers involved were placed on administrative leave, per state police policy.
