In total, around 17.5% of cases have resulted in hospitalizations, according to data shared by the DOH, and there have been two confirmed “measles-associated” deaths.
Previous data released on Sept. 2 showed 540 reported measles cases across 36 counties, with around 45% of cases reported in Lancaster County.

By comparison, the CDC had reported more than 2,900 cases across the U.S. as of Aug. 30, eclipsing the total number of cases reported in 2025.
As the outbreak continues, the DOH continues to emphasize the importance of vaccination, citing the 97% protection level provided after both doses of the vaccine.
