Lackawanna College head coach Mark Ross didn’t start of his first season with the Falcons the way he expected, a 20-12 loss to Monroe in week where the offense struggled in the run game.

Mark Ross, Lackawanna College coach says, “Well, some of it was decisions that was read option type stuff. And you know we got to work with the quarterback on the reads there. And then you know they did some simple movement with their D-line and we didn’t handle that well. So we’ve got to address that with the O’ line you know, who’s working at combo with each other and who they’re working to. “

Jamal Jefferson Jr. , Lackawanna College 3rd year added, “I feel like we got to do better to just be a team. You know what I’m saying? It was a couple of mistakes that we made, but I feel like the defense. Defense held their own over the offense. The offense has to Just got to come out and just be better. That’s what that is all around.

Laivon Balthazar and David Naniewicz from Lakeland both put up similar numbers in their first collegiate game at quarterback. Combining for 195 yards and a touchdown pass.

Jefferson Jr says.,” I felt like before quarterbacks are pretty presentable. You know what I’m saying? Regardless of how things went Friday and how things are going to go the rest of the season. They’re both like they set the standard every day when they come in. First one here, they show us how it’s supposed to be done and what’s not supposed to be done. Their leaders and that’s why they lead this team. “

Ross added, “The big thing is I don’t think we have to put it all on the quarterback. You know, I think we’ve got a we’re deep at running back. I thought Jalen Fletcher and Dan McConomy did a really nice job considering that we had some missed blocking assignments. But I think they’re very capable and I think we deep at wide out .”

The Falcons defense played a lot in their first game but still held their opponent to a couple of scores. The front 7 for Lackawanna is one of their strengths.

Dyjeere Weekes, Lackawanna College 2nd year(Scranton) says, “Getting pressure on the quarterback. I feel you know we have strong guys. We have very we have speed. Just stick to our keys, you know it’s all in the playbook if you know where you’re going. That’s all. That’s what we’re going to do. “

Brodie Daugherty, Lackawanna College 2nd year aded, “ We’ve been we’ve been getting better every day, getting better every day, and we’re communicating better.

And, you know, just as a group of guys, like, we’re getting together a lot better. And, I think it really starts up front to with our D line. Our D lines been doing good. Savion and Jaden and Weekes, you know, those guys are doing great. And, you know, you have me and Keith, and, you know, there’s freshmen stepping up like Noah and Javion. So yeah, we’re looking good.

Lackawanna College will kick off their debut in the Pennsylvania State Athletic conference on Saturday by hosting Seton Hill. The Falcons won’t be eligible for any post season or post season awards and they know what to expect come Saturday.

Ross says, “ Really officially the start of the new era because this is the first of now ten straight games in the PSAC. And to have at home is kind of, you know, nice I think

it’s just the next opponent. But yeah, I get it. It’s exciting to be a part of something and know that, you know, on a year in, year out basis, you kind of get something.
