DALLAS – Republicans kicked off day one of their midterm convention in Dallas, Texas.
Pennsylvania Sen. Dave McCormick spoke during Wednesday night’s events and was introduced by a familiar face.
Democrat Sen. John Fetterman crossed the aisle to introduce his fellow senator in a short video.
McCormick went on to tout how he has worked closely with the Trump administration to improve manufacturing and business in the Keystone State.
“We’re also cutting red tape and empowering small businesses with women leading the way on new business startups,” he said. “Westinghouse is launching a new era of nuclear power. Drug manufacturing is booming in the Lehigh Valley. Hanwha is investing $5 billion in the Philadelphia Shipyard.”
Rep. Rob Bresnahan from the 8th Congressional District — which includes Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike and Wayne counties — also spoke.
The convention continues Thursday, with Rep. Ryan Mackenzie slated to take the stage. This November, Mackenzie is set to run against Democrat Bob Brooks to retain his seat representing the 7th Congressional District, which includes Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton counties, as well as part of Monroe County.
