Cleanup efforts continue in Erie from the September 2–3 storms, crews clearing areas and assessing damage, Residents can replace lost SNAP food benefits. Officials are urging caution around downed trees and power lines, along with closed parks.
The city is still a State of Emergency. Crews are still working to make areas safe again. They plan to get streets open curb‑to‑curb so everyone can move freely.
The city is also working state partners, including PEMA, to bring in additional support for storm damage. Residents who lost food during power outages may get SNAP benefits replaced if they apply by September 13,
Tree damage is one of the main issues, City crews are handling those that fell onto streets, homeowners are responsible for trees on private property.
Residents are urged not to cut or move damaged trees themselves due to powerline risks/dangers. Several parks remain closed due to unsafe conditions. City officials are urging everyone to be careful anywhere debris or downed trees remain.
Power outages are still in some areas, residents are reminded to preserve battery life, protect appliances from surges, and follow strict generator safety rules. Trash pickup is still running on schedule.
