SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A teen with a task at hand is giving first responders a reminder that they are appreciated.
Jack Polansky raised the American flag on a new flagpole in front of Fire Station 4 in North Scranton. It’s part of his Eagle Scout Project.
A crowd of firefighters and EMTs cheered him on including his father, Scranton Fire Captain Andy Polansky.

Both Jack and his father said the moment serves to honor the sacrifices first responders make every day.
“Especially today, on September 11th, this definitely means a lot more. On September 11th, the 25th anniversary, 250th birthday, it was very special,” Troop 50 Senior Patrol Leader, Jack Polansky, said.
“Every day I come into work and everyone that I get to work with, when we look out the front door, when we leave the building, when we back in, this is something that we also get to see,” Jack’s father and Scranton Fire Captain, Andy Polansky, added.
A plaque will soon be mounted near the flagpole on North Main Avenue in Scranton.
