ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Ripple Community Inc., hosted their annual party in the park event Saturday, with a special peek at a new project. Attendees enjoyed the usual festivities and also got an early look at the design concepts organizers are proposing for the space.
It was held at Franklin Park in Allentown, which is about to undergo renovations! The renderings shown at the event showed the park layout meant to enhance everyday use for people who visit.
Allentown leaders secured money from the Bezos Earth Fund to pay for it, and community members got to get a first look at what the new Franklin Park will look like. That funding is what will allow the city and partners to move forward with the plans that were on display.
“But it’s just a space that could be more functional. So, to create, to bring that functionality into what is already a beautiful and wonderful community space I think is just going to make a world of difference to everyone who lives in the community here,” said Sherri Brokopp Binder, Ripple Community Inc.’s Executive Director.
Some of the renovation plans include two playgrounds, a full basketball court, and a splash pad. The overall approach shown emphasizes recreation and gathering areas, along with improvements meant to make the park easier and more pleasant for people to use on a regular basis.
