The Lackawanna County commissioners were joined by PennDOT and Elmhurst Twp. officials, county staff and engineers to formally cut the ribbon and open the newly constructed GC Smith Street Bridge on Sept. 3. The full replacement of the 91-year-old structure cost $3,072,956 and was done by Grace Industries of Bath, Pa. The project started in October and was completed two months ahead of schedule.
