An Allentown man died Sunday from injuries he suffered when he was shot more than a year ago in Philadelphia.
Jose A. Ramos Cepeda, 39, was shot in April 2025. He died Sunday afternoon at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill, according to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio, who ruled the death a homicide.
Ramos Cepeda was shot about 9:30 a.m. April 30, 2025, in the 1500 block of East Luzerne Street, the coroner’s office said in a news release. His cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds.
A 33-year-old woman, Jaylisa Quinones-Pinet, was also shot then, according to a report from NBC10. She was taken to a nearby hospital and died shortly after the shooting. The report states Deiby Rivera-Gonzalez, 57, was wanted in connection with the shooting.
Court records state Rivera-Gonzalez, of Philadelphia, pleaded guilty in July to third-degree murder, possessing an instrument of crime, attempted kidnapping and attempted murder in the incident. He is scheduled to be sentenced in November.
