READING, Pa. – Last week, a jury convicted a man of a deadly shooting in Reading.
The Berks County District Attorney’s Office said jurors on Friday convicted Vincent Sanchez of first-degree murder for shooting and killing Ellis Garman Sr.
The shooting happened in July 2023 at South Sixth and Cherry streets in Reading. Authorities previously said a midday altercation between Sanchez and Garman eventually became physical before being broken up by witnesses.
As Garman tried to leave the scene, though, Sanchez fired a single shot from inside his car, which fatally struck Garman in the chest.
Authorities were not able to locate Sanchez until May 2024, when U.S. Marshals arrested him in New York City.
Sanchez faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.
