PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Excitement surrounding the Philadelphia 76ers is driving up ticket demand ahead of the team’s upcoming season, with single-game tickets set to become available Thursday as fans anticipate seeing LeBron James, Jaylen Brown and a revamped roster take the floor.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m.

According to secondary ticket marketplace TickPick, prices for the team’s home opener have increased significantly compared with last season.

“The cheapest ticket on our site for the 76ers home opener is around $300. The cheapest ticket sold for last year’s home opener for the 76ers was $22,” said Kyle Zorn, TickPick director of content.

Longtime fans say the additions of James and Brown alongside Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe have raised expectations for the season.

“I’ve been trusting the process,” said Christopher Antich of Rittenhouse. “If we’re going to be in the playoffs, you gotta budget 5, 10 thousand dollars,” he said.

TickPick said the most expensive ticket sold so far for the home opener on Oct. 22 was about $1,500, while a floor seat is currently listed for more than $20,000.

For fans looking to save money, ticket experts recommend shopping around, avoiding suspicious social media offers, and waiting until the night before or the morning of a game to buy tickets. Another option is to wait until some of the early-season excitement subsides.

The optimism extends beyond fans. The buzz surrounding the team recently helped bring longtime in-arena announcer Matt Cord out of retirement.

“One of the greatest players in the history of the team, Allen Iverson, texted me and said, ‘ Hey, I think you have one more year left in you,'” Cord said Wednesday.

Many fans believe the team has the potential for a memorable season.

“I feel that this team has the heart to win something, like they got the will to win something this year,” said Damon Irvin of Olney.

The Sixers’ regular season opener is set for Oct. 20 against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
