Local author fair: Abington Community Library second “Local Author Fair,” Saturday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; stroll through tables featuring 20 talented authors from across Northeast Pennsylvania and browse books in a variety of genres for all ages. Flea market and food sale: St. John Russian Orthodox Church flea market and food sale, Saturday, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., 378 Lyon St., Clifford Twp., featuring seasonal items, kids’ items and housewares. Homemade chili and pierogies will be available for purchase, as well as a bake sale and basket raffle.

Ethnic food sale: St John’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 310 Broadway, ethnic food sale, Sept. 26, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., church grounds. Foods included are pierogies, halushki, potato pancakes and various soups.
Susquehanna County
Author’s luncheon: The 18th annual Local Author’s Luncheon to benefit the Forest City Branch of the Susquehanna County Library System will be held Oct. 14 at Elkview Country Club at Crystal Lake. This year’s featured speaker is Amy Walsh, a fifth grade teacher from Scranton who has a passion for writing and sharing her love for literature with her students. She writes historical and contemporary novels as well as inspirational stories. The event will begin with a time of hospitality at 11:30 a.m. and lunch at 12:15 p.m., followed by the speaker and book signing. The cost is $25 and checks can be made payable to the Susquehanna County Library (with Forest City as a note in the memo) and mailed to 531 Main St., Forest City, PA 18421 by Oct. 7.
