SILVER LAKE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WBNG) — Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a fatal incident in Susquehanna County after finding an elderly woman dead inside a home on Wednesday afternoon.
On Sept. 16, at around 3:15 p.m., troopers from the Gibson barracks responded to a Donovan Road residence for a report of a deceased woman.
Andrea Lynn Vail, 76, was found dead inside the home, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Upon arrival, officers found 46-year-old Michael Sean Jones outside the property.
An investigation found that Jones and Vail were involved in an argument on the evening of Sept. 15, during which Jones allegedly assaulted the victim, resulting in her death.
Jones was transported to UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, where he remains hospitalized in police custody.
The Susquehanna County District Attorney’s Office approved a charge of criminal homicide against Jones. New York State Police assisted with securing a fugitive from justice warrant.
The Troop R Major Case Team led the investigation, with assistance from forensic and reconstruction units processing evidence at the scene.
This is a developing story, and the investigation is ongoing.
