Racers laced up their sneakers to take part in the Hope Rescue Mission Patriot 5K on Saturday!

The annual race raises funds to support homeless veterans who stay at the shelter.

Organizers credit a lot of the fundraisers success to the running community.

“I think the running community is just a very strong community and they’re always happy to come out and support a good cause,” said Sheri Golembiewski, volunteer coordinator.

Hope Rescue Mission is the largest homeless shelter in Berks County.
