• St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1035 Old River Road, Robeson Township, will celebrate the installation of the Rev. E. Robert Burkhart as pastor on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Rev. Rodney Lilley, Dean of the Central Mission District, will officiate. Burkhart is an ordained Lutheran minister, Gov. Mifflin High School graduate, U.S. Navy veteran, and graduate of Kutztown University and the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. He has extensive experience serving and advising congregations and has a  particular interest in renewing Christian faith and strengthening the church’s role in an increasingly complex world. He and his wife, Marcia, have been married for more than 50 years and have a daughter and two  grandsons. St. John’s is a congregation of the North American Lutheran Church (NALC).

• Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 4201 Stoudt’s Ferry Bridge Road, Muhlenberg Township, will hold a community fall festival next Saturday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The indoor event will be held rain or shine. There will be 42 local crafters and popular vendors, food for purchase, soups to go, and a bake sale. There will be supervised kids’ activities. Those attending that complete the vendor’s Star Map will be entered into a drawing for a $150 gift card assortment and a 50/50.

• Schwarzwald United Church of Christ, 75 Church Lane Road, Exeter Township, will be holding a fall festival next Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Apple dumplings and other home baked goods will be available for sale. Lunch will be available from 11-1. Hot dogs, barbecue and soups will be for sale. Activities for children will be available from 11-1.

• Huff’s Union Church, 540 Conrad Road, Hereford Township, will hold its annual Harvest Home Sunday on Sunday to celebrate its blessings in the form of food, especially bountiful produce provided by local gardens. James Reece, director of Friend Inc., will be the guest speaker. Bring something that can be given to the food pantry. If you have an abundance of home-grown food, like fresh vegetables or fruits that you would be willing to share, that would be wonderful. They will also accept canned or boxed goods.

• The Rev. Thomas Kochenderfer will lead worship during the 9 a.m. service on Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road, Douglass Township, Montgomery County. The birthday bags that were assembled last Sunday for Boyertown Multi-Service will be blessed. Coffee and Conversation will be held at 8:20 and 10 in the Welcome Center.

• St. John’s Gernant’s Church (A Federated Congregation), 13 Gernant’s Church Road, Ontelaunee Township, will worship Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the sanctuary. Sondra Barth-Delp will perform a solo called “What Belongs to You.” There will be a Meat Meal Trays/Purse/Gift Basket Bingo on Sunday, doors open at noon. Cost is $25 at the door. With your ticket you will receive a free hot dog and drink. Donate a plastic jar or can of pasta sauce to be given to the Schuylkill Valley Food Bank and receive one free special card, one offer only.

• Zion’s Lutheran Church, 354 Zions Church Road, Perry Township, will hold a celebration and blessing of the newly redecorated youth room following the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday as well as a time of fellowship.

• McGlinn Conference and Spirituality Center, 460 St. Bernardine Street, Reading, will offer an afternoon reflection on Sept. 27 from 1-4 p.m.: “A Commemoration of the 800th Anniversary of the Death of St. Francis of Assisi — Will the Real Francis Please Stand Up?” by Sister Roberta McKelvie and “Following Francis: Doing What is Ours to Do” by Sister Patrice Klausing Cost is $25 per person with light refreshments. • United Church of Christ of Robesonia, 301 W. Penn Ave., will hold a healing service on Sunday at 10:15 a.m.  A choral reading, “Healer of Our Every Ill,” will be read by the confirmation class. • The Rev. Kenneth Gould will lead the 9:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday at Salem Lutheran Church, 8410 Lancaster Ave., Bethel Township. A time of fellowship, with refreshments, will be held in the multipurpose room after the service.
