The health department’s expansive services currently include primary health, dental, mental health, behavioral health and addiction treatment, environmental health, healthy homes services and now, a full-service pharmacy.

Peter T. Schade, Erie County Health Commissioner, emphasized the significance of this expansion.

“The opening of the Erie Community Pharmacy is a landmark achievement for our agency and the residents we serve,” Schade said in the release. “It represents the final, critical piece in our integrated ‘circle of care’ ensuring that we can provide everything from preventative health and mental wellness to crucial medication access, all under one roof.

“Our commitment is to holistic health, and with the pharmacy now operational, that commitment is complete.”

The Erie Community Pharmacy is located in the Erie County Health Department facility, 420 Superior St. in Sandusky.

It is open to the public and accepts most major insurance plans, according to the release.
