Scranton police arrested a 33-year-old Scranton man Friday after he slashed another man in the neck Tuesday during an incident in the 1200 block of Jackson Street, according to a criminal complaint.
Officers responded to Geisinger Community Medical Center for the report of a male victim who had sustained a laceration to his neck. The victim told officers he had been in a physical altercation with a man he knew as “Ty,” who was later identified as Tyquan Fields.
Officers determined the victim knew Fields and the two met to discuss a dispute involving a woman.
Witnesses provided officers with the registration information of a vehicle associated with the suspect, which officers subsequently determined belonged to Fields.
The Major Crimes Unit continued the investigation, conducting additional interviews and gathering information that positively identified Fields as the individual who allegedly slashed the victim’s neck with a knife during the altercation.
The victim was released from the hospital the following day.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Fields, who subsequently turned himself in at Scranton Police Headquarters.
Fields faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.
