A local man is being recognized for his effort of tackling litter and illegal dumping.
Anthony Sorci was presented with Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful’s Community Pride Award.

Sorci, who is from Fairview Township, has dedicated thousands of hours cleaning roadsides, interstate ramps and public spaces in Erie County.
Sorci has found anything from cans and bottles to tires and appliances, and said he volunteers his free time after work and during the weekends to keep his hometown clean.

“When all the snow melted, it seemed like there was more trash along the road than usual, but I recommend people adopt a highway through PennDOT; you don’t have to pay anything. They provide bags, spend an hour of your time, pick up the trash, call them and they’ll pick it up,” he said.
State Representatives Pat Harkins and Bob Merski presented Sorci with his award.
