Atley Calvert scored his sixth goal of the season 15 minutes into the first period, and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins kept the offensive attack going in a 4-0 win over the Utica Comets on Saturday night at Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza.

Rookie goalie Maxim Pavlenko earned a 20-save shutout in his first American Hockey League start as the Penguins (9-3-1-0) snapped a three-game losing skid and evened the season series with Utica at 1-1.

Calvert’s goal came on the power play to open the scoring.

In the second period, the Penguins added two more goals when Mathieu De St. Pahlle scored his second of the season off assists from Chase Pietila and Alex Alexeyev at 5:51. The Pens made it 3-0 at 13:06 of the second when Sam Poulin scored his fifth of the season with the assists going to Valtteri Puustinen and Aaron Huglen.

With Utica goalie Jakub Malek pulled for a sixth attacker, Tristan Broz scored his seventh goal of the season into the empty net at 17:23 to close the scoring. Finn Harding got his fourth assist of the year on the play.

The Penguins outshot Utica, 27-20.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton returns to action Wednesday morning when it plays at Bridgeport at 10:30. The Penguins return home Friday night for a rematch with the Islanders at 7:05 p.m.
