Allentown mayor honors three residents who have each reached at least 100 years old | Allentown Area

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A group of special seniors were honored Tuesday in Allentown.

Riverton Enhanced Senior Living celebrated its three centenarian residents.

Each of those residents is at least 100 years old.

Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk stopped by to chat with them and give them certificates.

Riverton’s director says it’s important for others to hear the residents’ life stories and experiences.

“You can learn so much from history, and you learn so much more from people who’ve actually lived it as opposed to thinking that you know what’s happened or history books. First-hand accounts are always the best way to go,” said Executive Director Shelby True.

The residents were also given sashes and celebrated with a toast and cake.
