If you consider yourself a foodie or supporter of local businesses, then the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance’s annual Go Taste Berks event is a “must do” event.
Go Taste Berks runs from Nov. 1 through 30, allowing digital passport holders to explore a month of special offers, freebies and experiences at participating businesses throughout the greater Reading region.
The digital passports are on sale now, and can be purchased for $25. Visit greaterreading.org/GTB26 for information about the event and a link to purchase a passport. This is the third year for the event under the Go Taste Berks name. It had previously been a one-night event called Taste of Berks.
How it works
During November, each participating business will have a QR code posted where visitors may scan it to validate their visit. Each check-in earns points and allows passport holders to claim any deal or sample the business is offering.
Check-ins and activities also count toward a digital leaderboard. At the end of the monthlong event, the top three passports with the most points will win one of three “Go Experience Berks” prizes, according to the event website.
Participants earn 5 points for every Go Taste Berks vendor they visit and scan their QR code. Extra points can be earned by completing activities throughout the challenge, such as sharing a photo or leaving a review about their food, drink or experience, according to the release.
In addition, the most frequented vendor — determined by digital check-ins — will receive a free eSpotlight email and a social media takeover of GRCA’s channels.
