PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — SEPTA has an ambitious wish list to modernize the entire transit system.
The agency calls it the “Accelerate” plan.
It calls for a major investment, including 230 new Regional Rail cars, with trains coming every 15 minutes at half of the stations.
The plan also includes new subway vehicles for the B and M lines, as well as major station renovations, including adding elevators.

However, the biggest hurdle is funding. The transit agency faces a $193 million budget deficit.
This plan will require significant investment from state lawmakers, but there is no estimate on cost or a timeline.
