SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — A Scranton man is facing felony criminal mischief and false-identification charges after police said he was connected to damage reported at the West Scranton Junior Football Field.
Scranton patrol officers responded to the field Sept. 18 for a report of criminal mischief, police said.
During their investigation, officers encountered a man matching the description of a possible suspect and identified him as Steven Gilliland, 43, of Scranton.
Police said a search of Gilliland’s backpack after his arrest turned up a flashlight, small pieces of copper wire and electrical wiring. The items were consistent with materials believed to be involved in the reported damage, according to the release.
Gilliland is charged with felony criminal mischief in connection with reported damage exceeding $10,000 over multiple days, as well as false identification to law enforcement.
