The Scranton Cancer Memorial Fund is asking the community for help replenishing funds used to assist local families affected by cancer.
According to the organization, an average of $18,000 is distributed annually to local families to help with travel and lodging expenses associated with cancer treatment. Assistance is provided at $500 per request.
Organizers have launched the Scranton Cancer Memorial Fund Challenge, encouraging individuals, businesses and community organizations to make donations to help continue that assistance.
The fund’s message emphasizes that even small donations can make an impact and allow the organization to continue helping local families in need.
Donations may be dropped off at Wayne-White Counties Electric Cooperative.
The Scranton Cancer Memorial Fund says its mission is centered on providing local support to families facing cancer, with the challenge carrying the message, “The fight’s not over until cancer is gone.”
