SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — A New York man who was free on bail in a felony drug-trafficking case is accused of selling drugs from a home in Scranton’s Hill Section, authorities said.
Jaheem Slater was taken into custody Wednesday after a joint investigation involving the DEA’s Scranton Field Office, Pennsylvania State Police, Scranton police and Lackawanna County detectives.
Investigators executed a search warrant around 12:15 p.m. and said Slater ignored commands before officers took him into custody. A woman and an infant were inside the residence at the time, according to the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office.
Authorities said they recovered about 185 grams of suspected cocaine, 12 ounces of marijuana, two .22-caliber revolvers, digital scales, packaging materials and $1,310. The money included funds investigators said were used in an earlier controlled purchase.
Police said Slater is prohibited from possessing firearms because of a 2011 felony drug conviction in New York. He was also free on bail in a February 2026 felony drug-trafficking case in Schenectady, New York, authorities said.
The investigation remains ongoing. Slater is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
