“Breathe In, Breathe Out: The Full Cycle of Life,” featuring three programs exploring the human experience through creation, renewal, and transition, will make up the 2026-27 season of the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh.
The upcoming season will hold special significance for the organization as Thomas W. Douglas concludes his tenure as artistic director at the end of the 2026-2027 season. After years of artistic leadership, Douglas will lead the Bach Choir through one final season of performances.
The season opens Oct. 24-25 with “The Creation: When Man Plays God,” a unique presentation of the classic 1931 film Frankenstein, featuring Boris Karloff, accompanied by a live R&B soundtrack. It will be presented at the Row House Hollywood theater in Dormont.
On Dec. 12-13, “The Beginning Sunrise,” at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Pittsburgh, brings together a unique collection of spirituals with the haunting music of John Michael Talbot in a program centered on joy, spirituality, light, and renewal.
The season concludes May 8-9 at the First Baptist Church of Pittsburgh with “The Transition Tides: Nancy Galbraith’s Requiem,” featuring the work of celebrated Pittsburgh composer Nancy Galbraith. Her contemporary treatment of the traditional Requiem Latin text brings rhythmic excitement and wit to this enduring work.
