An 81-year-old man was killed Sept. 23 when he was struck by a car while crossing West 38th Street in Erie, according to Erie police and the Erie County Coroner’s Office.
The man, identified by the Coroner’s Office as David Grossi, died at UPMC Hamot at 11:27 p.m. Sept. 23 following the accident, which was reported at 7:48 p.m., according to Chief Deputy Coroner Nick Rekitt.
The accident happened in the 900 block of West 38th Street. According to Erie police, Grossi was walking north across the roadway with a walker when he was struck by a vehicle heading east on West 38th Street.
The driver of the car stopped after the accident and was on scene when police arrived, Erie police Deputy Chief Ken Kensill said.
The accident was under investigation Sept. 24.

Rekitt said Grossi was homeless, and his office is attempting to locate family. Anyone with information is asked to call the Coroner’s Office at 814-452-2911.
