Award winning shorts filmmaker Alison-Eve Hammersley makes her feature debut with Erie, a new entry in the found footage canon set in the last days of 1999. The 90s period piece investigation will world premiere on October 1st at Beyond Fest, the highest-attended genre film festival in the United States. The film will screen as part of a series of programming sponsored by MUBI.

A Q&A will follow the premiere with filmmaker Alison-Eve Hammersley, actors Carly Stewart and Grant Crater, co-writer J. Batzli, producer George Henry Horton and producer and specialty character designer Matt Gossen.

Carly Stewart and Grant Crater headline Erie as a pair of siblings who launch their own investigation into their sister’s mysterious death, connecting it to a string of local suicides whose explanations may or may not be supernatural.

Erie was directed by Alison-Eve Hammersley, in her debut feature. Hammersley previously directed the viral short film Fragile.com, and the award winning short You’ll Only Have Each Other. She co-wrote the script with J. Batzli, who won the Shore Scripts Short Film Fund for her psychological thriller Little Anna.

Erie stars Carly Stewart (Breakup Season) as Stella, Grant Crater (Church of Phil) as Oscar, and Ryan Garcia (NOPE) as Red. The film was produced by Hammersley and Anna Golin for Rat’s Nest Pictures, Thomas Hartmann (“Hal & Harper”), genre producer George Henry Horton for Dark Atlantic (Dark Hollow, Strawstalker) and Matt Gossen.

Erie will next screen at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival in October, marking its East Coast premiere.
