A man has been arrested after a fight led to a stabbing in downtown Pittsburgh Monday morning.

Pittsburgh Police were called to Sixth Avenue and Coffey Way around 12:45 a.m. on reports of a stabbing.

Authorities say the victim had multiple wounds on his side and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

A short time after arriving on scene, police say they were given a description of the suspect and found Robert Kemp on Smithfield Street at 5th Avenue.

Authorities say they found a folding knife on him during his arrest.

A witness told police she and the victim were approached by Kemp who asked them for crack. When the pair told him they did not have drugs, Kemp allegedly became aggressive.

The complaint states the victim stood to tell Kemp to leave the area, but Kemp stabbed him in the chest with a knife.

Kemp faces a charge of aggravated assault.
