MILLVALE, Pa. —
A fire on Siegel Street in Millvale destroyed a home, leaving a man and his two children without a residence and causing damage to a neighboring house.
At least nine fire crews responded to the scene. The Millvale fire chief said crews were initially called for an oven fire, but the flames quickly spread throughout the home, deeming it a total loss.
The homeowner, who has lived in the house since 2009, declined to go on camera. His daughter, speaking off camera, said two of their three cats are now missing.
Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and zero visibility at the front door, with much of the fire coming from the attic.
“It was stubborn. There was some issue in the attic that we couldn’t get to. The roof was soft. The stairs were compromised to the attic. So, we had to find other ways around that,” said Millvale Fire Chief Jim Tunstall.
The fire marshal is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
