West Scranton High School will reopen Monday morning after a mechanical issue with one of the building’s boilers caused a temporary closure on Friday, Scranton School District officials said Sunday.

One of the boilers malfunctioned Friday, requiring both units to be shut down for safety reasons, officials said.

Auxiliary heating systems were installed and activated over the weekend, district officials said.

The district’s facilities team worked with contractors to stabilize the heating system and ensure all safety protocols were met before reopening, officials said.

Classes will resume on a normal schedule Monday morning, district officials said.
