CATASAUQUA, Pa. – A 19-year-old male was pronounced dead inside a Catasauqua home Saturday, and the Lehigh County coroner has ruled the manner of death a homicide.

Police, EMS, and the Lehigh County coroner were on the scene of the shooting in the 200 block of Edward Lane just before 5 p.m..

Aber Salloum lives near the house, where investigators said a 19-year-old man was shot and killed Saturday night.

“It’s so safe and always good neighbors, good people here and never had any problem except this house,” said Salloum.

Salloum said in the past, she saw people coming to the home in the middle of the night.

“It’s dangerous here and like we’re looking to move because it’s been too many years and like nobody did anything about it,” said Salloum.

Multiple departments were on scene for hours Saturday night, including two State Police Forensic Services units.

Police could be seen walking inside the home and looking around the area with flashlights.

The District Attorney said the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force is investigating.

“It’s a quiet neighborhood; it’s a great place. I’ve lived here for a couple years and you know a family oriented neighborhood,” said Karl Kahlan, a neighbor.

Kahlan said he was on his way home when he heard sirens.

“I’m completely shocked. This is not the type of neighborhood that you ever see or hear anything like this going on,” said Kahlan. “It just doesn’t seem real, no words really,” said Kahlan.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.

At this time, there is no word on what may have led up to this shooting.

“Once we have more information, we will release it at the appropriate time.”
