WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. – A judge is hearing arguments this week in a lawsuit against the Whitehall-Coplay School District for ending school bus service for charter students.
The first court hearing on the case was held Tuesday in the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania.
Six charter schools are suing the district after it stopped bussing kids 12 and up in those schools as a cost-saving measure.
Instead, the district said those kids can either switch to a public school or take LANTA.
The plaintiffs allege the new policy violates state law. Tuesday, they asked for an emergency injunction to restart bus service until the case is resolved.
A second hearing will be held Wednesday morning.
