INDIANA, Pa. – The IUP field hockey team remained at No. 7 in the latest NFHCA Division II Coaches Poll following a 1-1 weekend that included a dramatic comeback against Frostburg State and a road victory over Division I Lock Haven.

The Crimson Hawks rallied from a three-goal deficit against PSAC opponent Frostburg State, eventually falling 4-3 in a shootout. IUP responded Sunday with a 3-2 road victory over Division I Lock Haven, scoring three times in the opening half and holding off a second-half comeback by the Bald Eagles.

IUP remained No. 7 in Tuesday’s national poll, matching its ranking from a week ago.

The Crimson Hawks are off to a 6-1 start under first-year head coach Stephen Hamill, marking the program’s best seven-game start since IUP also opened 6-1 in 2021 under head coach Gary Agard.

Sophomore Kasey Rieger has helped lead the Crimson Hawks’ strong start and ranks among the top five in the PSAC in several offensive categories. Rieger averages 5.29 shots and 3.86 shots on goal per game while ranking among the conference leaders with eight goals.

Rieger sits just two goals behind the PSAC lead, with three players tied atop the conference with 10 goals.

The Crimson Hawks now turn their attention to their second top-10 matchup of the season, traveling to face No. 1 Kutztown on Saturday. The Golden Bears enter the matchup as the top-ranked team in Division II.

Game time is set for noon in Kutztown.
