READING, Pa. – Thousands of Scouts helped fill shelves for families in need this weekend.
The annual Scouting for Food drive brought in more than 55,000 pounds of donations for Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank.
Volunteers spent the day sorting items that will be distributed to families across Berks and Schuylkill counties.
With more people turning to food banks amid the government shutdown.
Helping Harvest says this year’s drive comes at a critical time, just as many prepare for holiday meals.
