Pathways Hybrid Learning Microschool will host its 8th annual Pathways Heritage Day on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the historic Brubaker Homestead near Terre Hill.

Pathways Heritage Day inspires students’ passion for history while helping parents nurture historical appreciation in their family life and local heritage.

The historic 1791 Brubaker Homestead is located at 414 Long Lane, East Earl. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission and parking are free.

This free, family-focused event brings northeast Lancaster and southwest Berks Counties’ regional history to life through hands-on activities and demonstrations. Nearly 4,000 people attended last year. This year, more than 400 historians, artisans, craftspeople, military reenactors, interpreters, and educators are expected to participate.

The Ephrata Cloister, Cornwall Furnace, Conrad Weiser Homestead, and Historic Schaefferstown will join the event for the first time, helping visitors explore the region’s history from the 1740s through the mid-1900s.

Participate in historical competitions 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children and adults can dive into interactive activities, while local historians and reenactors share captivating stories and exhibits from significant local historical sites and local historical organizations.

On the Commons Stage 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. will be period music by the Pathways Music Group and Ephrata Cloister Chorus. Meet Abe Buzzard-notorious local chicken thief and scoundrel, “Capital in Flight” – the story of Congress escaping the English in 1777.

Boothill Getaway brings bluegrass, folk, and country to the stage from 4 to 6 p.m., with chicken BBQ available during the same hours.

Light festival foods are available all day, including homemade soups, apple butter, pulled pork, and more. Pulled pork is also available for takeout.
